‘Why am I here?’ This book seeks to answer this and life’s other big questions about our true identity, what drives us and what our purpose is. By delving into the Words of the True Guru, called “Gurbani” in the Sikh faith, you will gain a different perspective on life and your whole approach towards it. The Guru’s universal message centres around elevating above two significant limitations; our attachment to what we have and our unfulfilled desires for the things we don’t have. Our perceived identities and our values drive these attachments and desires. We can learn to overcome these barriers by discovering a new life that is healthy, rewarding and without limits. A selfless and grateful life in which serving the Oneness of creation while remaining connected to the Creator becomes our day-to-day practice.

Waheguru! Outstanding book, that explains Sikhi in a universal way for all to understand and to grasp easily. The questions asked at the end of each chapter are really thought provoking and make you dig deep and reflect upon your own life as a whole.

Definitely recommend for all to have a read, you won’t regret it 🙏🏾

Incredible book. For someone like myself with very basic understanding, this book explains life lessons easy to follow. One thing that is highlighted is that we are very fortunate to have self development guidance in our Gurus. I have spent many years reading self development books written by humans – when in reality it was always in front of me.

Credit to the extensive research that Tarsem Singh and team have done by using text from the GGS and relating it to our lifestyles.

Just excellent – a must read for everyone.

  3. Divinder Kaur

Fantastic and articulate introduction for children and adults alike.

I wanted to read this book because I always think to myself Why am I here? It really helped a lot to answer my questions. One of my favourite parts is when it showed the 10 stages of life. I loved reading all of the Gurbani translations. My Dad read the book first and mentioned he read in a review that it’s meant for ages 13+. After reading the book he was very impressed and decided it was suitable for me as well. I highly recommend this book to others, but not to kids under the age of 5.

This book is written in a very unique way and is an amazing read for anyone who wants to learn about the Sikh faith, how to live a Sikh life according to the Guru’s message and for some it maybe a chance to self reflect on your current journey. For me, this certainly was a chance to realign my Sikhi and helped with realizing the most important conduct is to fill our inner self’s with good values and virtues that are soul merging. A lot of the time we may think the life we live is Sikhi oriented but when we put aside all labels, identities, materialistic goals and false attachments it is clear that we are actually not living life how we should.

I highly recommend this book as a great resource to not only understand the Guru’s message, but to value and follow it also. We can be grateful for such a message that allows our souls to become pure even whilst living amongst this world and it’s illusion.

The book really makes me think about questions like what kind of a person I want to be, what I can do every day that can connect me a bit more with the One and changed my view of the world too. Highly recommended for everyone.. It is amazing.
